These small wearable sculptures are a response to my continuing exploration of the human/nature interface using reused or up-cycled man made materials along side natural materials. In this work a white feather is set between the glass of a c1940's slide mount. While the use of the slide mount is evocative of ideas of mans analysis of nature, in mythology the white feather is a sign of purity and wholesomeness of heart, or that angels are present. The feathers are ones I find on my daily walks but the lake.
The pendant measures 50mm x 50mm x 2mm. The case is an original antique slide mount, and while care is taken to ensure that the piece is pristine, some small defects may be present as with any product of this age. The pendant comes on a 45cm neoprene cord, the fixing is elegantly simple and of stainless steel.
The work comes beautifully packaged in a Japanese Pauwlonia wood box, these artisan made boxes have been used for centuries in Japan for storing valuable artifacts.
A percentage of every sale of these art works will be donated to the Wilderness Society, an Australian based not for profit organisation dedicated to the protection of some of our most fragile and beautiful natural environments.
